The “Iraq Filter” project is pleased to announce the launch of a new fact-checking initiative dedicated to identifying, analyzing, and addressing misleading and false information circulating during the Iraqi election campaign. This project aims to protect the integrity of the elections and support citizens’ right to access accurate and reliable information.
During this period, our team will work systematically to monitor election-related information, classify false and misleading content, and conduct comprehensive investigations into suspicious claims, in coordination and cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission. The verified results will be written, reviewed, checked, and published through our official platform — the “Iraq Filter” Facebook page — to ensure that voters and relevant stakeholders have access to trustworthy information.
This initiative is part of our broader mission to promote democratic dialogue, counter misleading narratives, and enhance transparency and accountability in the electoral process. By providing citizens with accurate information, we aim to empower them to make informed decisions and contribute to a fair and credible electoral environment.
The project is implemented by the Vision Foundation for Strategic Studies and the Strategic Center for Human Rights, with the support of International IDEA and funding from the German Federal Foreign Office. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to combating information disorder and strengthening democratic resilience in Iraq.
After the election period ends, the page will continue its commitment to building a healthier information environment in Iraq by raising public awareness, supporting media literacy, and encouraging fact-based dialogue.
We welcome collaboration with journalists, civil society organizations, academics, and unions who share our vision.
