The issue of minorities and coexistence is one of the most important issues in the world today, especially in the Middle East and Iraq, because due to the history of the region, many different peoples, nations, religions and sects live in this region. Each has its own history, beliefs, language and culture, and in each country there are dozens of major problems of economic, social, cultural and political life. This issue has caused dozens of political and military problems, which have addicted the entire region to killings, displacement, migration and political and social instability. That is why this is a big problem in the world right now. Dozens of scientific works are being carried out in academic centers and academic research institutions.

The problem of this research is to explore the level of coexistence and living conditions of Christians in Sulaymaniyah at present, especially after the events that occur in the region in the religious wars and the emergence of religious extremism and the events of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. The aftermath that followed, which once again made the issue of coexistence between communities a major issue. Therefore, this issue was raised by the Vision Institute for Strategic Research, and in this regard, a panel was organized in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Governor of the city and many of the city's administrative officials. After the panel and the discussions, and after the speeches made by the Deputy Prime Minister, the Governor of the city and the directors of the city's departments, it became clear that there are some issues in this regard that need careful and scientific research. That’s when the agency commissioned us to do a study on this.

The aim of this work is to show the degree of coexistence among minorities in Sulaymaniyah, especially Christians. The main purpose is to point out their problems in this regard and then present solutions, in order to direct them to the relevant places, so that everyone can work to reduce the problems and promote coexistence in Sulaimani and be a solution to minority life in the city. In order to beautify the life of the city and preserve the beautiful history of the city in this regard. At the same time, it aims to become a catalyst for similar work in other parts of the Kurdistan Region and even Iraq.
