Vision Foundation Hosts Panel on Decentralization and Local Governance Activation in Kurdistan

The Vision Foundation for Strategic Studies VFSS organized an open discussion panel on the implementation of decentralization and the activation of provincial and municipal councils in Erbil on (25/2/2025).
The panel, which was attended by senior officials in the Council of Ministers, advisors to the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Kurdistan Parliament, along with a group of experts, witnessed in-depth discussions on the legal, administrative, political and financial challenges facing the implementation of decentralization in the region.
The participants in the discussion stressed the importance of "forming an administrative coordination committee, amending relevant laws, holding municipal council elections, and implementing administrative and financial reforms" to enhance local governance mechanisms. The attendees indicated that "implementing the decentralization system will contribute to reducing administrative duplication and enhance the efficiency of providing public services to citizens."
