Vision Foundation for Strategic Studies, in partnership with the Civilization Development Organization, officially launched a multi-stakeholder Roadmap to Combat Drugs in the Kurdistan Region.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Ms. Kwestan Mohammed, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Kurdistan Regional Government, who reviewed current patterns of drug use and trafficking, and outlined recent reform measures enacted by regional authorities.
During the event, researcher Hawkar Rafiq presented a summary of a joint study by the Vision Foundation for Strategic Studies and the Civil Development Organization, entitled “Roadmap for Combating Drugs in the Kurdistan Region,” in which he outlined the strategic measures required to address the drug menace.
Two technical sessions followed, bringing together representatives from the Ministries of Health, Security, and Justice alongside leading experts. Discussions focused on coordination mechanisms, resource sharing, and the activation of interagency roles to ensure a unified response.
Concluding the event, participants endorsed a set of urgent recommendations, affirming an ongoing collaboration among the Vision Foundation for Strategic Studies, the Civilization Development Organization, and government bodies. All parties committed to monitoring progress closely and to mobilizing the necessary support to translate the roadmap’s objectives into concrete, on-the-ground outcomes.
