On Sunday, 7/12/2025, the forum “Opportunities for the Economic Development of Chamchamal”, organized jointly between the Vision foundation for Strategic studies and Charmo University, was held with the participation of officials, academic experts, and residents of Chamchamal district.
The meeting consisted of three panels. The first panel, titled “Chamchamal as a Gateway for Trade and Industry between Iraq and the Kurdistan Region,” featured discussions by Kovan Jalal , General Director of Trade and Industry; Shilan Salam, a legal expert from Charmo University; and Aram Baban, a member of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The panel was moderated by Bzhar Nasreddin, a finance and investment specialist.
The second panel, titled “Investment Opportunities and Labor Market Challenges in Chamchamal District,” included contributions from Amanj Jalal, Director General of Investment in Sulaymaniyah Province; Karzan Juma, an industrial expert at Charmo University; and Dr. Ibrahim Mahdi, an economics specialist at Charmo University. The session was moderated by Gzang Ali, an urban engineering specialist.
The third panel, titled “Strengthening the Tourism and Agriculture Foundations in Chamchamal District,” featured Amal Jalal, Head of the Kurdistan Region Tourism Board; Issa Jalal, Director of Agriculture in Chamchamal District; and Dr. Zanst Qadir Hama Aziz, an environmental geography specialist at Charmoo University. The panel was moderated by Pashtywan Fazl, a business administration specialist.
At the end of the meeting, a number of proposals and recommendations were presented based on the discussions and outcomes related to Chamchamal district.
