The Vision foundation for strategic studies, through a research on the role of social media platforms in spreading false and misleading information, published the findings of its research focusing on the election campaign period.
Today, Thursday, 2025/12/4, during a press conference, Vision foundation announced a new study titled “Misinformation and Disinformation During the Election Campaign in the Kurdistan Region,” and also released the final report of the Iraq Filter project.
The study was prepared by researchers Aram Saeed and Dr. Hejan Khalid, based on data collection, two focus groups, and several surveys, all of which examined the impact of false and misleading news during the election campaign period.
During the same press conference, Falah Hassan, the project manger of the Iraq Filter, presented the final project report on monitoring fake news and disinformation during the Iraqi parliamentary election campaign, stating that 10% of the misleading news during the election period targeted women.
“Iraq Filter” was a project aimed at monitoring misinformation and disinformation during the election campaigns of the Iraqi Council of Representatives. It was supported by the international organization Idea International and the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
