‏Italian Consul: The Kurdistan Regional Government’s democracy must be protected

‏On Saturday, December 6, 2025, the Vision Foundation for Strategic Research received Tommaso Sansone, the Italian Consul General, and discussed with him the role of Italy in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, as well as the importance of maintaining security and the economy in the region.
‏Adnan Osman, President of the Vision Foundation, spoke about Italy’s important role as a soft power in the Kurdistan Region and as a key factor in the development of democracy in the area, adding that Italian companies should play a greater role in the future.
‏The President of the Vision Foundation emphasized the need to accelerate the steps toward forming a new government in the Kurdistan Region and considered it necessary for Italy to play a more effective and broader role in enhancing cooperation and development in the region.
‏For his part, the Italian Consul General in Erbil spoke about the importance of preserving democracy in the Kurdistan Region and expressed his support for the negotiations between the two ruling parties.
‏He added that political stability plays an important role in economic development and strengthening investment in the Kurdistan Region, encouraging more countries to invest in the region.
‏ “Italy has always been sympathetic to the Kurdistan Region, and we are committed to supporting the region and strengthening our relations,” Sansone said.
‏In another part of the meeting, the Board of Directors of the Vision Institute presented the research and projects carried out by the institute.
