Youth Unemployment and Migration Have Become a Critical Challenge in the Raparin Region
Vision Foundation for Strategic Studies has published its latest English-language study on youth unemployment in the Raparin region and the rising rates of youth migration from the area.
The study, entitled:
“Fostering Sustainable Youth Employment in Raparin Administration: A Localized Policy Framework,”
addresses the significant increase in youth unemployment in the Raparin region and links it to economic and institutional instability in the area. The study concludes that 31.38% of households in the region are either living below the poverty line or experiencing severe economic hardship.
The research examines the causes of youth unemployment across several dimensions—economic, social, cultural, political, and legal—based on a field survey conducted with 462 young people from the region. The findings indicate that unemployment is a primary driver of youth migration, with a large proportion of respondents reporting that one or more members of their household have migrated abroad.
The study was prepared by Dr. Didar Abdulkarim and Alend Mahwi, and it presents a number of policy recommendations and proposed solutions to address the issue.
